Writing has two main parts. The first part is the technical stuff. This is what we learn in school—things like grammar, spelling, and how to format our writing correctly. The second part of writing isn't taught in formal education but plays a really important role in making our writing enjoyable to read. I call it: Aesthetic writing. People are drawn to beauty. It pleases our eyes to look at beautiful things. Aesthetic writing is all about how the sentences look and feel. Aesthetic writing has rhythm. Sometimes the sentences are short. Really short. Other times, the sentences are long and detailed to give the reader more information so that, they can have a better idea of what's going on. Think of aesthetic writing like art. Just as an artist uses different colors and brushstrokes in their work, a writer uses different sentence structures to create beautiful writing.
